Hi Melissa! Hehe, I'm in your exact opposite situation! DH and I are both Maltese and we're currently still living in Malta but can't wait for DH to get the right qualifications to move to UK! Our reason is mainly there is no way we can cope with the low pays and ridiculously high bills and loans that have become Malta's norm, I don't know whether you've had to buy everything new since coming over but the price difference of things is ridiculous! My brother's just moved to England and confirmed how cheaper everything is and he lives just outside London! In fact it is here that we have no hope of moving forward and tbh are in a big financial mess that will only worsen once I have to reduce my work hours after Baby comes!

You don't say where in Malta you live but maybe you should look up the Mother-Baby groups that some churches set up or else find a playgroup for Henry though I personally wouldn't leave such a young baby at a play school if at all possible?! But if you want to, there are many private playschools around the island, I know there's TLC in Marsaskala and Fgura which I had a look at and seem quite good as very unfortunately I might have to leave my baby there to go to work, but that would depend on how far from the area you live as the buses are a nightmare, as you might have guessed!

Hi Melissa

I also live in Malta, we have been here for 2 years now.  My children are a lot older than yours, but I do have friends with much younger children.  Get in touch and let me know how you are getting on,  if you need any help, I might be able to point you in the right direction.

I am also heavily involved with the British Residents Association out here.  The majority of its members are older and retired, but there are still quite a few of us younger members around too.

Hi Gisele

we are living in gharghur. thankyou so much for your reply, I will check out some of them. where abouts in uk are you moving to? I am from kent.

to be honest we are very lucky in that my farther in law comes over every other weekend so anything electrical or toys etc we need to buy he brings over for us. as your right the price increase is crazy.

as for clothes im enjoying all the boutiques there are over here and have ditched the english highstreet stores with there double prices!! and as for household utility bills we find them ok. Your right they are not cheap but they seem to be about the same as in the uk because what we paid for electic and water in malta is what we would have paid for electric gas water and sewage in the uk and we would have hasd our council tax on top of that too. I also find the car alot cheaper to run over here, now we finally have one.

I hope things go well for you in uk, I do miss it terribly but i think thats part of it being our first year away.
