Hi,

It would be great to hear experiences of anyone expecting in Greece, whether mainland or Islands. It can't just be me!!

Hi Isi

Have you found anyone near you who is expecting? Have you tried any local expat websites? Whereabouts in Greece are you? I've never been there but my sister has a few times and used to say how beautiful it is.

I'm Dawn and we're in Australia. DH is Australian and we have two DDs aged nearly 5 and 17 months so life is pretty busy. Off to the UK for a holiday at the beginning of October so am looking forward to that.

Dawn

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for the message. Wow, you must be busy with those two - very cute! As I have just turned 37 my boyfriend and I hope to have another fairly quickly after this one, all being well, I never wanted to have just one child, but we will have to see how this all goes, its still early days.

Unfortunately I havn't found anyone else here on this site and I have tried expat sites but it seems most expats here are the older generation. I live in Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands and it is beautiful. Its hot here at the moment and I am so fustrated I can't jump in the sea everyday - my doctor has told me not to, to avoid infection!

This is my first baby which is why I enjoy this site so much and sharing experiences. My boyfriends sister had a baby last year here, and she is being very supportive, and I have such a great doctor I feel that I am in the best hands.

I also want to go home to UK at the beginning of October, but a little worried about swine flu! Does it worry you?

Where in Australia do you live? My best friend here is from Newcastle, NSW and I spent six weeks there a few years ago - loved it!

Kefalonia sounds like a beautiful island. Sorry you haven't met any expats locally, I do know how hard things can be in the beginning but keep your eye out for any local playgroups etc etc and eventually you should find something! It's good that you have your SIL (kind of SIL!) in the same baby situation as you, good you have a great doctor too. Can make all the difference. I remember some of the miserable midwives in the UK, yuk!

I find ivillage is an amazing site too. Have solved many a problem on here over the past 5 years, lol.

We're in Geelong which is an our west of Melbourne. Its a fair sized town and really has everthing you need here. Good to know theres a major capital city only an hour away too - not that I get there much these days. Maybe next year I'll manage some shopping trips while the eldest goes to school.

Yes swine flu - its a big thing here too. The way the media carry on does my head in, is as bad as the UK. We are going for our trip in October and just will have to keep our common sense in check! Can't wait though and it's creeping up quick considering we booked the flights six months ago.

Anyway better go as I can hear little one stirring from her nap.

Bye for now

Dawn
