Hiya

It really is a joke that well known rhymes are being changed for no good reason.  Now humpty is all better again, you can't get a black sheep yet for some reason you can get rainbow coloured ones.  Its rediculous.  My dd was told at school that they have to sing Baa Baa Rainbow sheep.  She doesn't know why this is but obviously I know.  How its offensive is beyond me considering you can get black sheep.  Its not a slur against people.

I could rant on and on about it.  Even some places have stopped putting up Christmas lights.  When will it all stop. What do you think?

I've only got time for a quick reply so will have to keep it short. Personally I think it is absolutely disgusting. Why on earth should we have to change the words to our children's nursery rhymes? I imagine they go back hundreds of years. Who is it they are supposed to be offending? Has anyone ever actually complained? This might sound a bit harsh but I think if the words of a nursery rhyme are offending someone then it's tough and they need to stop being so sensitive! The sheep in the rhyme is black which is why the word black is used. If we're being so particular is it not sexist to say "and one for the little boy who lives down the lane"  Is it not mocking the blind to say "3 blind mice, see how they run" You could just go on and on and find fault with most things if you really wanted to.

I for one have taught my kids the correct words to the song and will not be changing them.
