Hi

Just want to say thank you for helping me making up my mind. I too am thinking of moving to dundalk, ireland. (my boyfriend irish) I have a daughter who is three and we would like to move over there and get her in school by the time she is five. My boyfriend is not my daughter's father. However, the father agreed for us to go there.

I want to start a family with my boyfriend and bring my daughter up in a better enviroment than romford, essex. It seemed dundalk have a better quality of life and I sincerely hope so.

Anyway, glad u replied to the lady, coz it helped me too!

One question, do you know how to get my daughter on the list whist I am in england? do u think that possible or not? My boyfriend's parents currently live in dundalk.

Anyway thanks again

Sazzy

hi

wow, that was strange reading the response i posted when i was 14 weeks pregnant! davey is now 10 months old!!!!!!!!!

can't believe you live in romford, we live in loughton so not a million miles away. MIL lives in chadwell heath, spitting distance from you.

glad what i said helped. i presume when you say list you mean school list? i have no idea. probably best to ring the school - have you chosen one or do you still need to decide? we have decided to stay in the uk for the time being - well, we are actually considering dubai at the mo!!! thats one im finding hard to get my head around. hard with no family back up so not keen but great opportunity to make some money as its tax free.

good luck with the possible move. let me know how it goes!

Hi

You can register your child at every school in Dundalk and then choose nearer the time, my son went to Realt Na Mara and i took him out because he was being bullied, untill we moved he went to the Grammar which is fee paying

Most of the people i know send there children to CBS or Bay Estate, Bay has a great reputation and lots of facilities, CBS is more cental and has a lot more pupils, both have large pupil numbers in the classes

There is a small school that i cant remember the name of, the thing that put me off was the fact it was all prefabs but the kids seemed very happy and the numbers are capped at 25

If you move to the area then you get first preference on a place, be aware though that education may be "free" but you buy all of the books, pay a volantary contribution of €70, speech and drama is €35, you get charged for photocopying and extra curricular activites

Also the school run through the parents commitees and they permanantly tap you for fund raising cash, it is a very different system to England

hope hat helps
