Hello lovely ladies :)

Just wondered if any of you have traditions with your children that you repeat every christmas such as making the christmas cake together, decorating the tree together, choosing a new bauble each year, making christmas crafts etc etc.

Christmas is always so busy with large families (endless shopping/organising/parties etc etc etc!!) that I want to make sure we definitely make time for the more 'magical' things that make memories and I am looking for some inspiration :)

Also, I bought a HUGE Christmas tree last year to match my HUGE family lol and I am thinking I may put it up on the 1st December which is one month away today! :) (Normally we buy a real tree and it goes up the weekend before Christmas so that it lasts!)

I love Christmas and try my hardest to make it special for everyone that sometimes I get lost in the whirlwind and forget to relax and enjoy it myself!

Tell me what you all get up to......................

Love Peach X

Hi peach, were moving the beginning of december to a much bigger and needed property, i am expecting baby #6 .

The new house is huge and i dont think i have enough furniture to fill it lol as the rooms here are small, so i think a bigger xmas tree is needed and every year the kids dress the tree and put there nik naks on they have made at school and home over the years .

We always dress the tree and house together. This year we are having a real tree, which is a treat for us.  I think we're going to get it on the last day of school and have a late night decorating it while eating Christmas nibbles.

We've also started having fireworks on Christmas Eve.  We only started this because we were all ill on bonfire night and rather than having them a week late we thought we'd save them until Christmas.  Now the kids really look forward to it and use it as a boast to the school friends.

I do try to make cards with them and do some baking but sometimes this gets lost in the general mayhem of fitting in work aroung Christmas preparations.  Should be easier this year though as I tend to work lates so will be able to do these things in the morning.  Also at the moment my last working day before Christmas is Tuesday so should be able to make cakes and biscuits on Wednesday and Thursday which will be good.  My plan is to have everything else sorted by then so will just be able to concentrate on us.

we like to take the kids to see santa usually at the local pub they do a chritmas dinner and santa visits your table with a gift

love doing the cooking etc with the kids but usually is a bit rushed as so much to do...but this yea we are going out for christmas with my family havent spent a christmas with them since i got married so am looking forward to a very relaxing day, just hope the dinner is as nice as i cook :0)

me and dh give each other our presents on christmas eve and make it a special eveing just for us.wine nibbles tv,

Hi Peach

I can totally relate to what you're saying! I look forward to Christmas so much and love the build up. However it is so hectic!!! I like to do lots of cooking and baking but end up stressing about it because I don't find the time to cook everything I want to cook. I always say I'm going to be organised but end up having so much to do at the last minute. I find it impossible to keep up with all the goings on at the schools and who's got to bring in what and when etc etc

However! I want the kids to have fantastic memories of Christmas and we always have our grand outside light switching on on 1st December. We have a real tree that we all go to get together and put that up a couple of weekends before Christmas. WHen we get the tree they choose a decoration each for it.  We always make Christmas biscuits to hang on the tree but these get eaten so fast we end up making quite a lot of batches! I also do their teachers some homemade fudge as a present and the children help with that too. They also always get new PJ's to wear on Christmas Eve so Father Christmas sees them at their best LOL!

I've arranged a couple of Christmas parties for their friends to come over and I'm looking forward to that.

Love Dawn xx
