Hi Everyone,

I'm guessing most of us are on half term this week, so I thought I'd start a quick thread so we can have a little catch up... seems ike it's been too long!

I can't quite beleive its been a whole year since me and Mark split, and my life is different beyond recognition, but for the first time I actually feel like me! It's a bit tough for the next few weeks as theres a lot of anniversaries and stuff coming up. Will hopefully be getting my settlement soon, which should definately ease thing financially too.

I've started my third year at uni - and am mildly stressing about the work load and whether I'll actually be able to get a job with hours I can do when we finish in July!

The kids are good, Archie has settled into school and when we went for parents evening his teacher said that he was a pleasure to have in the class (standard fayre i know, but I was proud anyway). This morning he wrote his name for me completely by himself for the very first time 0 and it was spot on! Eloise is 3 in Jan, just a mini me in so many ways, a proper little cuddly madam, with the cheek of a thousand, but now definitely dry during the day and i dont think ive had a wet nappy at night for weeks now.

We're on half term here, so today me n Archie are going to buy spooky food for our halloween party on sat and carve our pumpkins later, and next weekend we have a bonfire party to go to. Then I think we might be having a birthday party for me (yay! - didnt have a birthday last year) and then its xmas, and new year.... and then exams :o(

Anyway - thats me! Would be lovely to hear what everyone else is up to!

Love Helen xXx

Hi Helen

I can't believe it's a year since you and Mark split up.  Time goes so fast when you have kids (I sound like my mum!).  I'm glad Archie is doing well at school, it definitely makes it easier for us mummies when they take to things easily.

We're actually away on holiday at the moment, James has done something with his phone and the laptop so I can log on here to check up on people!

Toby's doing really well at school.  The teachers have finally realised I'm not just a pushy mum and that he CAN read and write to a higher level than they thought.  They've done a reading assessment on him and are going to have a meeting after half term to decide what to 'do' with him...I have no idea what that involves but at least it's been addressed at last.

Chloe'll be 3 in about 5 weeks.  She's another cheeky one! Very girly (not sure where she gets that because I'm not a girly type person!).  She's decided she wants a princess fancy dress party for her birthday so I need to start sorting that out.  She'll be starting nursery after Christmas and really can't wait, she's seen Toby reading and writing and is starting to get cross because she can do it!

As for me, I'm sinking a bit again at the moment.  I should be full term (37 weeks) today and it's hit me quite hard.  I could actually sit here and burst into tears to be honest but I try not to cry in front of the kids anymore.  As far as they're concerned (or Toby anyway), it was a long time ago and I don't want to bring it back up.  It doesn't help that my nephew was stillborn at 38 weeks three weeks ago.  It brought back a lot of memories and I haven't been able to shake that dark cloud from over my head.  Hopefully things will start to get 'easier' again once I've got through Rose's due date.

It'd be good to hear how everyone's getting on.  I can't believe how fast the last 4 1/2 years have gone!

x

Becki xx

Hi

I'm childfree for a couple of days as the kids are at the inlaws. It's a shame I'm at work :(

Izzy has settled into school really well and doesn't fight with Sam in the classroom like I feared. They even choose to sit together at carpet time. At parents evening I was told that Izzy plays alone quite a bit in the classroom but the teacher wasn't worried because her imagination is so wild she has a wonderful time. It is more worrying that she is friends with all the year 4 boys (the top year at the school) and one boy in particular. They have been seperated in the playground for cuddling too much! He has even introduced Izzy to his mum. She tells me he is her boyfriend and they are going to get married.  A lot of the older kids seem to have picked Izzy out as the cute kid to befriend and look out for and I can't believe how many people she knows. On the academic side, she is doing okay. He writing is lovely and neat and her reading is getting there. For a little girl who couldn't make many of the phonic sounds this time last year she has amazed everyone. Thank goodness I fought for speech therapy when I did.

Sam is doing very well in year 1, now that he has got over the shock of having to sit and do some work. He is reading fluently, writing complex sentences and getting full marks in maths tests! All he wants to do is play football though. On the down side he has developed a really bad stammer which seems to get worse when he is anxious or tired (or trying to get a word in edgeways when Izzy is around). I'm not sure what to do about it  - at the moment I'm trying to just give Sam time to speak. It's really hard to hide how worried I am about it from him. He's such a sensitve thing that this could really knock his confidence which took so long to build up in the first place.

As for me, I'm still trying to get my head round the fact that both of my children are now at school. How on earth did that happen?!

Love

Hi Guys
Not logged on here for a while, I do catch up with a few on FB but just to update!

Oliver doesn't really like school he comes hom each day and one particular boy keeps hitting him I know who it is but they have a policy in school to not say names and take the approach that 'if you are upset or someone upsets you, you tell a teacher' well Oliver did this and I have spoken to them and it didn't work so we have decided to 'hit back' is the best option. Millie is 2 now (yesterday) and is a monkey so cheeky and the complete opposite of her brother she is very easy going and not pahsed by anything.

Myself and Paul well this year he lost his job, we thought we were going to lose our house, but he now has a job with more money and better prospects so we are finslly catching up with arrears etc and things are getting better. We also got burgled by some scum whilst we slept in our beds!! Stole my car and electrical items from the hse. But on a positive note we are finally getting married on 18th Dec (4th time lucky!).

Xmas is sorted am buying the kids a treehouse as we have no room in our hse for any more toys! I have bought them one pressie each Oliver has Lego City set and Millie has Baby Born horse and carriage thing and for the rest of the family I went to Argos and ordered 20 x vouchers, so all done!!!! Have to be organised with the wedding coming, that is all sorted too so am just doing bits and bobs really.

Hope everyone is well

xxx

Well as Helen and some others know, the love of my life walked out the door on Monday night and he's never coming back.

It was out of the blue, I never saw it coming.

I feel like I am dying, my body is in agony, I can't eat or sleep, can't even go into a shop.

I am so desperately lonely and I have been a rubbish mummy today to the point that Theo was trying to parent me. My big kids are being all brave and I am a mess.

I was going for the "I'm fine" approach today but then nearly had a panic attack in argos whilst buying Theo a diversionary toy. The C word is everywhere and I can't take it.

I am not coping at all and time is going by so slowly. I have family visisitng today- my brother and sister and their partners and I'm not sure I can take it.

Zoe
