Yesterday morning a mum of a little girl in Aidans class (they are in reception) said him another little boy hadn't been that nice to her, pulling her coat etc

DH spoke to him last night and he agreed to be nicer etc. Dh asked me to get him to apologise to her this morn and what a bad decision that was. A 5 year old doesn't know waht apologisiong 2 days later is all about and although i just tried to keep it light hearted i think it really scared him AND embarassed him. He refused point blank and couldn't wait to get inside.

I then got upset and now feel a c**p mam and really embarassed. The mam who brought it up said that she only mentioned it because she knows me and wouldn't have said anything to a teacher as it wasn't serious enough. i feel like i've just handled it really badle. Dh is right in fact that Aidan will have forgotten it by now but i left him on really bad terms at school.

This school thing is gonna be really hard and i think its only gonna get worse:-(

Must be one of those days.....Emma screamed all morning and all the way to school, her shoes dont feel right :( . I left her feeling like a crap mum.

School certainly isnt easy is it :(

Lets hope they settle eventually and we get a peaceful(ish) life back.

Sending you a cup of tea and biscuit and a calm afternoon,

All calm now thankfully. I got a thumbs up from Aidans teacher so he must have had a good day. I think i was just very tired and i think its harder for me than it is for him.

Thanks for the reply, i'll post in the 'new school' post too:-))

Hi Em,

I am glad all is calm again. It's all such a balancing act isn't it. You are not a rubbish mum at all, you're just finding your feet with things- a rubbish mum wouldn't learn from what happened, or even be aware that it didn't go that well.

You may remember JJ is in Yr 1 now (his birthday is just before the school year cut off) so we have had a year of this already and it goes up and down but things do get a bit easier.

Mind you, I am so upset about fireworks night- we have learnt not to take him outside but he's been stressed all day and bedtime was horrific. And I feel guilty because DS2 has to miss out on bonfires etc.. so there really is no winning is there lol.

Hope you're ok xx
