Hi, just a quick question.
I work on a busy ward and often we do not get lunch breaks during our shifts (12hrs). I know this is illegal but it happens anyway. Anyway, when I'm pregnant is there any way I can enforce my break times? My husband wants me to quit work because he thinks my job is too stressful and physical and we get treated very poorly. I need some reassurance that I will at least be able to take a proper break when I need to.

Advice please!!!

Thanks

am not very cued up on this but will try and help you, i work in admin on a busy work too and when i was excepting my son i just took my breaks i asked at the start of my shift what times i could have and then when at these times i know the 1st few times the rest of the staff were shock peed off etc but as i told the ward manager very loudly with the union rep next to me, i need my break and am sorry if it upset everyone else but i feel my health and my baby's health is more important than others moods. in the end i got my breaks at 11 am and 3 pm not the best times but it was when there was nursing staff to cover the phones etc

The union rep as a friend of mine so didn't need to go the union route but i could have if i need too. can  you speak to the union rep then go AND SEE WARD MANAGER TOGETHER And get something sorted ,

fingers crossed i get ur breaks
