First time to this board for me.

I've been with my boyfriend for a year, who was previously married (separated before we started seeing each other). Anyway, I found out last month he'd slept with his mother-in-law while he was married!!!!!!!

I had made a joke about something similar (playing "what would you do if...") and I can read him like a book and could tell it had hit a nerve. Eventually I got it out of him that he had. I don't know whether it was once or a couple of times, but I think it's absolutely repulsive and a horrific thing to do to your wife.

Now I don't know what to think of him as he's so lovely but surely he must have something inherently wrong with his mind to be capable of doing something like this? I've made him see a counsellor but I don't know how seriously he'll take it. Is this something that happens more often than you'd expect and you just don't hear about it or is this completely freakish?! So confused!

Its a good thing that u have asked him to seek help from a counselor. One doesn't know what plays in ones mind. Why dont u go for the counseling sessions with him, this way u will know if he is serious or not. U will know if he is really concerned about his problem and is ready to address it and do something about it.
