Hi
What works for one parent/family won't work for others. There are some basic rights and wrongs when it comes to parenting (we must meet their physical needs such as food and water, must not expose them to harm or abuse, etc.), but apart from those basics, we have to do what works for our own families, even if other people disagree with our approach.
I think that as long as your children are safe, emotionally secure and happy, then you should embrace the situation. Do what you need to do, of course, to contribute to maintaining their wellbing, bu you don't have to live with them to do that.
My nephews live with my brother for half the week and they are happy, secure children. It might not be what other people would approve of, but different strokes for different folks and all that!
Love,
