Here is my wedding story, sorry its so late things have been manic for me the last few weeks! Oh and this will probably be long so thanks for taking the time to read!
The night before the wedding I stayed at my mums house. DH stayed at his best mans. My mum had a few family members round for what was supposed to be a few drinks to celebrate my last night of singledom which turned into a drunken madness thing so they were all turfed out at 11pm after I complained to my mum and dad. After that me and my mum had a cup of tea and just chatted about things, eventually going to bed at around 1am.
Woke up the next morning about 7.30am to the worst weather that I have seen in a long time! It was blowing a gale and raining really heavily, so I started crying! I calmed down and managed to get some breakfast into me and had a shower.
Hair and makeup lady turned up about 9.30am, did my hair then my sisters. My sisters hair was supposed to be completely different to what it was, but as she was getting her hair curled I asked Paula to leave it down, she pinned it up a bit to take it off her face and I thought it was stunning. Then she cut and styled my mums hair and did my makeup. My aunt did my mums and sisters. My other 2 bridesmaids arrived and me and my aunt straightened their hair as all they had in their hair was diamonte hairbands.
Our photographer then showed up about 12pm to take pics of us getting ready. Well by now people were starting to panic as no one was dressed except my dad and DS! I quickly got DD ready - not easy as wiggly babies and fiddly dresses do not mix! Then rushed upstairs to help my maids get ready, one of whom was being a right pain and very nearly got kicked lol got my sister dressed then I had to wait for my mum and aunt before I could even get dressed! I was panicking by this point as by the time my mum and aunt were ready, it was 1pm and I was supposed to be at the church! I wasnt even in my dress yet!!! At 1.15pm I was finally in my dress and ready, and had a few pics with my dad (who very nearly cried when he seen me for the first time in my dress) and into the car. By this time the weather had cleared, although it was still very windy which made it far colder.
Arrived at the church at about 1.25pm to be told by the ushers that DH was seriously panicking! Didnt help that my gran had said i wasnt gona show up! Bridesmaids walked down the aisle (to the wrong tune - I wanted then to walk into Pachelbels Canon in D played on the piano, they walked in to some random tune on the organ!) then I walked in to the right tune but wrong instrument! I have never been so happy to see DH, he looked so handsome and so relieved to see me! He whispered that I was beautiful and that very nearly set me off! I actually was ok crying-wise, tho I was very nearly sick a few times that morning!
Our service was messed up a bit by the minister, we were having 3 readings - one before the ceremony and two after. They were in a specific order as they had different meanings. The minister decided to have all 3 at once even tho he was only told the wednesday before which order to have them! And he had his own order of service so could see for himself! So there was a bit of a delay as our readers got a bit confused but hopefully our videographer can edit that out on the dvd! Anyway ceremony went well, I loved saying my vows and I didnt laugh this time! Had a bit of a dilemma putting on DH ring, I couldnt! It wasnt too small just needed put on a certain way! Signed the register while sis-in-law played the clarinet then out we went! Had our receiving line at the church door, then got pelted with confetti!
Then I looked round and most of our guests had disappeared! They had rushed to get onto the bus we had booked instead of waiting. We were supposed to be the first to leave and ended up being the last! So then it was up to Stormont to get photos done.
When we got there, our photographer had disappeared! He thought we were heading to the hotel first so had went there. While we waited our driver drove on up the road to turn the car around. While he waited to turn, a massive group of chinese tourists spotted us and began cheering clapping and waving! I loved it, was like being a celebrity! Our photographer finally turned up and started pictures. Then as we were posing, a tour bus drove past packed with people who also started to wave and cheer!!! Well thats what I get for picking a venue thats one of the most popular places for tourists to visit in Belfast! Apart from that I dint like the photoshoot. I was freezing cold, the sun was blinding me and my dress got filthy! And I had to stand on grass for a few pics, not easy with a gale nearly blowing me over plus walking over soft mud in stiletto heels! Photos done then over to the hotel.
Had loads more photos done, and bumped into the other bride who was having her reception at the same time! Was so glad we booked the bigger room, it had its own private entrance and bar, didnt want to be bumping into her too much lol she did look lovely tho and seemed very nice.
Our meal was perfect although there were a few confused "why are we getting pudding first?" comments lol we had melon and pineapple, sorbet, roast beef and all the trimmings then meringue with strawberries and kiwi fruit and raspberry coulis. Before that we had our speeches, my dads was very sweet and he had the whole room singing happy birthday to me! I kept forgetting it was my birthday! (im 24 incase youre wondering!) DH speech was lovely, although when he got the mic he tapped it, said "testing, testing" then "they call me mr boombastic, totally fantastic..." lol was far funnier than im making it sound, he threatened me for weeks that he would do that, I didnt think he would!!! He was suitably embarrassed by his best mans speech though, especially with the pictures that were handed round!!!
Then we cut the cake, i made sure i had a piece as we had fruit on the bottom layer, chocolate in the middle and madeira on the top. I dont like fruit so i told the waitress to bring me and DH over a big slice each of the other 2! And she did! It was yummy, and very kindly made by my uncle as a wedding present. Then while the room was being changed over, we nipped upstairs to have a look at our suite. Omg it was heavenly, ive never been in a room so fancy in my life! The bed was so big and comfy, i nearly didnt want to go back down! But we did and had our 1st dance to my uncle Alex performing Everything I Do. Then PartyTime! Me and DH ended up being the last ones to leave, we were quite tipsy by then! And thats where im leaving it....hehe
Got woken up the next morning by room service with our breakfast, full Ulster Fry and tea - bliss! Chilled out for a bit, had a shower and went down to spend a bit of time with the kiddies as they were off to their grandparents for a week while we were on honeymoon. Got back to our house - no he didnt carry me over the threshold lol and I packed for our honeymoon!
I had the most fabulous day, even though a few things went wrong I didnt care. I got married to the man I love in front of the people we truly care about and that was all that mattered. So for those still planning, dont sweat the small stuff as by the time you get to your big day you simply wont care anymore! We are just back from honeymoon in Tenerife a couple of days ago and i really recommend it for those who dont have a large budget. it was relaxing and fun and although i am still a bit sunburned i still loved it. I have a few wedding pics up on FB if you want to look, and i apologise to those who asked me to be their friend or email them and i took ages about it! Hope im forgiven now! And sorry for this being so long, you really deserve a medal if you managed to read it all, well done!!! And thanks xxx
