Has anyone ever hired someone to search their ancestry? I think I have reached a dead end with my own searches - I could go back farther or find out more about known individuals but unfortunately, a lot of the places I would need to search are only open when I'm working. I can't take days off because I'm American living in England and my holidays are preciously split between my family back home and time alone with my husband - I have none to spare. I have one branch in particular I want to know more about - already searched them back to the late 1700s but found some people who specialize in the area they lived in so I'm thinking I could get better results with hiring one of them.

Just wondering how it's usually priced, if you got better results than your own searches, etc.
