Message: Hi gels

Sorry, I didn't have time to scroll down the pages for the original threads on this subject as I'm about to dash out.

I cancelled my Match subscription a few weeks ago and I am still getting one or two daily email notifications that someone has winked or emailed me. I just delete them as I am really not interested at the moment, but I genuinely believe they are fake - my profile must be way down the ranks as it's over a month since I logged in, and men who stumble across my profile would SEE that, so the amount of interest I'm getting is clearly being engineered by the powers that be at Match HQ to try and get my to pay further subscription!

This theory is proven by what's happened on Plenty of Fish - this is a free site so I simply stopped logging in and the number of emails I was getting petered out proportionately and now I haven't logged in for weeks I'm only getting the standard "customer services" ones.

Hi Summertime girl,

That sure does seem a bit suspect if you haven't been on the site for over a month now but saying that, some men don't always seem to be very good at taking notice of what is written with a profile before making contact.

Another reason for this happening could be you may be appearing in the match emails they send out to members... I say this because i have often been sent men in my matches who have not been active for the last 3 weeks or month etc. So again they might just be winking/messaging and not noticing that you hadn't been active lately.

It might not neccessarily be a case of them fixing it to get people to subscribe again, but i do think that some sites are a bit suspect!

Message: I have just cancelled my subscription ( I am fedup people don't read my profile properly or contact me from far away cities or even other countries or they dissapear etc.) and it will close today. Over the last 24hours experienced a frenzy of visits ,winks, e-mails. It was really quiet before I cancelled...
There is definitely something fishy about this.

Hi Saffy,

I found the same happen the other week when my subscription was running out on DD, on the last day i must have had about 12 winks when it had previously been just a steady flow of odd winks here and there and found the same when i put a profile back on there, lots of winks and a fair few messages then once i had subscribed out of all the apparent interest, only one person responded back. Definately suspect me thinks!

And also agree that it is so annoying when guys who are way out of the age range you are looking in or area or even from abroad make contact despite what is stated on your profile. Certainly seems that they do not read properly in the first place, either that or they are just trying their luck and hoping you will expand your criteria.

Hi Saffy
I've been on and off dating sites for over a year now with little success. After about 6 week brake I set up a profile( without a pic) on DD but didn't subscribe. I received an e-mail from a guy(he fulfilled all my criteria) and my curiosity got the better of me so I subscribed for 1 month. I read the e-mail it was very short just 'Hi how are you'...no pic. I replied but he never answered. I just got on with completing my profile but did think it was a bit fishy. I'm finding the same as you AAHHHHH!!! Guys don't read or ignore what you are looking for. I'm so sick of getting winks from men that are outside my age, distance, and with no pic, I've actually but a post script on the end of my personal statement Please guys max age 54 min 45 100 miles from where I live (im not into cuddling the phone and keyboard) sorry but i cant respond if you don't have a pic......and you know what.....I'm still getting winks from guys who are not what I'm looking for.
I'm sick too and think I'll cancel my subscription early....its so disappointing.
