Hi Everyone

Just to say that have have given OD one last go and it hasn't worked. I read with great interest the post 'Fake winks...' and put my little bit into that discussion. Wether OD is is right for everyone is debatable and you might as well ask how long is a piece of string. Some say its all a matter of patience but again patience is not endless and can border on wasting your time. I've been patient but I think I could spend my whole life being patient and still not come up with anyone who is suitable. Its the medium......its just not for me and a lot of other people. I've come to the conclusion from my point of view nothing beats meeting people in person in the conventional way. I had a bit of a thing in the supermarket nothing spectacular and he went his way and I went mine. Its was wonderful for about 30 mins and made me realise that infact OD is never, no matter how patient I am, going to work for me.

Good Luck Everyone

Good job you didn't get yourselves arrested, hahaha!

Seriously though, if you've decided OD isn't for you, I wish you all the best in the "real world"

I too have decided it's not for me, for now, although I know it's something I could always go back to if I wanted. But for now I have other things to focus on.

Enjoy yourself xx

I am with you on that one.

Enjoy the real world, it has so much more to offer then "having an affair" with an electronic device.

good luck

I have now been trying this OD for about 3 months, and its exactly like having an affair with an electronic device, so true! (am now very close to my mobile and laptop ha ha)

But when you have 3 children its hard to get out enough to meet people, I never see anyone in supermarket,  or gym etc......BUT I dso find the whole OD thing fairly draining in terms of time and energy invested in phonecalls, emails, texts, Im and then they just peter out........ so very small payback so far.....is this typical???

Saying that was out with friends sat night and everyone does always seem v young to me, and that was in fairly nice wine bar....I'm a young looking 44! Although back to Od had 26 and 29 yrs olds after me recently??

Plus most, in fact all of my friends are married, the 2 I went out with Sat are as well, so I think OD is maybe my best option for a bit longer...if I was back before was married (17 yrs ago) or still a student I dont think I would even have considered it tbh.

So good luck, and any hints on where to go to meet people in 'real life' really appreciated as am so far removed from it these days!!!

Hi Northernstar,

I am sorry to hear that you have decided to give up trying OD. I understand only too well, how trying and frustrating it can be, and often at times all for little results back. As we have seen on here, successes can and do happen but they seem to be few and far between and indeed it is all a matter of how much patience you have and how long you can keep that patience for.

I myself have now been trying OD on and off for just over 5 years and at times i have felt like calling it a day for good, but i have decided to just have a little dabble here and there from now on and concentrate more on my life as OD certainly isn't the be all and end all of everything!

I wish you all the best in the real world, and do have to say myself that if you have got the opportunity to get out there in real life and meet people then thats great and beats sitting infront of a computer any day! Good luck and take care.
