Just wondered if anyone had been to Florida and done DisneyWorld ect?????

My DH and I will have some money coming our way next year and I would dearly love to take the kids to Florida before they are to old!!

DD1 will be 7, DS1 5/6 and DD2 3.

When is the best time to go, we are thinking of 2 weeks in either May, october or the following February. 1 week school holidays and taking them out for another week.

I have done some investigation and think we will be taking about the best part of £10'000 if you include a reasonable amount of spending money. We would like to do a day on a day off and hire our own villa with a pool. Do you think this is about right?

Anyone got any advise???

Thanks

Terri

Morning Terri

I haven't been but have my plans also set out to go with my youngest daughter when she is 10/11.  We have done DLP many times and love it and I have always wanted to go to Florida. We already have the accommodation, DW tickets and flight (2.5k) money sorted out and like you I wish to take enough spending money so as to have the best possible time.  It will be our holiday of a lifetime as we would probably never go back.  One of my reaosn for waiting until my DD ios 10/11 is because she will still br young enough to believe in the magic but old enough to appreciate the whole thng.  We plan to take at least £3k for a 2 week trip to spend.  Bear in mind though we have decided we will be eating all meals out.

I am still in my prelimanary stages of reserarching really but the cheapest option for accommodation is a villa.  However, when I was reading about those advertised many of them shared the pool and complex facilities so you will need to read EVERY thing for every villa you see.  My own personal choice is most likley going to be onsite in one of the medium priced hotels but I really hasven't made up my mind (actually I keep changing it lol)http://www.wdwinfo.com/ - or a brochure to peruse at home.  Some of the medium prices hotels are not as expensive as you think they might be.

One note of warning about tickets - do not buy them from anywhere toher than a reputable outlet.  Apparently, they use biometrics to make sure the ticket belongs to you alongside a signature to prove they are yours and have not been transferred.

Use Trip Advisor as well, a valuable source of information http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g34515-i19-Orlando_Florida.html

Hiya we did all that you want to do in April this year. Own villa private pool etc car hire.
We went the last 2 weeks in April and it was lovely and hot no rain at all.

Golden Florida is the company that we booked through online and we had no problems what so ever. I booked park tickets through virgin as they had the best deal at the time.

Aquatica by sea world is a fantastic water park, it only opened up in march 2008 and we had open tickets and ended up going 3 times in the 2 weeks we stayed.

Sea world take plenty of money with you as they seem to charge you for everything in there. $7.00 each to feed the dolphins very worth it and truely amazing.

Busch gardens another amazing day out.

Magic kingdom.... well what can we say we spent all day there from 10 in the morning till 10 at night I felt like i was a little girl all over again.

down town disney is great and so is old town kissimee ( again you need plenty of money)

I could go on, the only thing we did find is that in all the park's it soon adds up for food so we use to take pack lunches with us and sometimes it was just nice to sit in the car and eat with the air con on.

Publix is a good supermarket

Joes Crab shack is a great place to eat this is at celebration if you like sea food

Golden Corral is a buffet style restaurant and its amazing they do every thing you can think of and more.

we also went on a airboat tour across the ever glades ..it was breathtaking

I could go on I loved our florida Holiday and really wish I could go back again this year. I would even like to move over there...

Hope this is of some help to you, please feel free to ask me anything and I will help in any way
