I am about to return to work following maternity leave and a career break and have been really lucky to have my request for part time hours agreed. However, the position I have been offered by my employer isn't ideal and to be honest I would much rather be at home. For the last few months I've been dipping in and out of recruitment sites looking for opportunities to work from home but they seem really hard to find. Have you got any tips?

I am not the type of person to go out and sell so would ideally like to do some admin type work but just can't seem to find a lot.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Katie

Start by looking at the list of websites here: there are lots of site set up to offer genuine home working opportunities: http://www.familyfriendlyworking.co.uk/acatalog/blog/2009/03/23/looking-for-flexible-work/

If you are interested in working in admin, you may want to set up your own Yirtual Assistance Business. You can see the UK Association of VA's here: http://allianceofukvirtualassistants.org.uk/ and there is advice here about starting your onw VA business too: http://www.familyfriendlyworking.co.uk/acatalog/blog/2008/10/24/mumpreneur-news-advice-on-how-to-set-up-your-own-virtual-pa-firm/

Stick at it - it may take some time to find the right opportunity, but there are lots of mums  admin work from home successfully. Good Luck!

Antonia
