I have been out of the office environment for 3 months now. I had an injury to my knee at the end of June, and was signed off by the docs til mid September, however, I felt that this would be too long out of the 'loop' with what was happening at work, etc., so on the agreement that I would only perform light duties, it was agreed in writing with my company, that I would do 2-3 hours work a day from home, until I could return to work. My injury is such that my leg goes numb after sitting for a period of time, driving, etc, and therefore a trip by car, train and walking taking almost 2 hours each way, wasn't/isn't something that I can do with my injury. I'm seeing a consultant via NHS, but it's really dragged on. I've had appointments and and MRI, and will get those results next week. During my period of working from home and whilst signed back on by the doctor, I had leave planned, and took it, as I needed some time with my partner, and to de-stress from my health and work situ. My boss offered to accelerate my appointment, and I happily agreed. However, I heard nothing from him since going on leave, nor since returning from leave. I have received notice that my NHS follow up appointment is next week, and my boss is aware of this. Last Friday afternoon, late on, I received an email from my boss, saying he wants to have an hour's meeting with me in the office this week, to talk to me face to face about my progress and to update me on organisational developments. It'll cost them about £150 to get me there and back by car. I'm sceptical about this, as I'm not sure what can't be said over the phone. I'm now concerned that I will be dismissed. I'm the only person who does my job, so making the role redundant isn't something I believe is viable to the company - they are a software house and I train their software to customers. What should I be wary of? Can they just get rid of me? I'm on a 3 month notice period. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
