Hello all,

Although i've been using the boards for ages i'm a newbie on this one so i hope you dont mind me joining?

Just needed a little advice from you.

Basically i have been off work now for a couple of months as i have been suffering from palpitations, after much investiagation and hospital stays, my gp has given me some beta blockers and has told me i can return to work but on the condtion that i stick to light duties (admin etc). My work are fine with this and sent me to see an occupational health doctor who examined me and said he was also happy for me to return to work. I saw the occ health doctor on the 21st October (the same day that my last sicknote ran out)

I still have not returned to work as various paperwork and final arrangements need to be made beforehand. HOWEVER (and this is the bit i need advice on) work are now saying that i need to provide another sicknote to cover form 21st onwards, but my dictor wont give me one because he says that he gave me the all clear to return to work.

So who is right and who is wrong? should my gp write me another sicknote? Bearing in mind that its only because my work are taking so long with paperwork that i'm not back already. Or should work take on board thatits no longer my health preventing me form work, just their protocols?

Any advice or opnions would be greatly recieved

Beth x

Hi Beth,

Will ask my sister about this as she works in HR but I would say that your doctor is right. He gave you the sicknote at which point you told work you were all clear and could return but it's your place of work that have a policy that you see their doctor before your return. If they take too long to return paperwork and dot i's and cross t's then it's tough!

As you say, you were given a clean bill of health from your GP, told work who said the next step was to see THEIR doctor who is now taking too long to fill in paperwork to say you are fit to return. Not your problemo hun!

As I say, I'll ask my sister but I would have said this is more commonsense than anything - you've done what you were supposed to do haven't you - it's them dragging their heels!

Love S xx

Hi

I'm new to this board, so just want to say Hi to everyone.

My question is, my Daughter is a single parent of a baby girl, she has no contact with the Father at all.

My Daughter is returning to work in Jan after her maternity leave, her Job entails shift work, but as a single mum has she got the right to flexible hours so that she can only work the day shift and not the late one, as she will need to be home for the baby in the eve.
